What is Off-Road Smart?
Based in San Diego, California and Rosarito, Baja California, Off-Road Smart has trained riders across Mexico, the United States and beyond. We specialize in Motocross, Enduro, Off-Road, Dual-Sport and Adventure riding, with classes, tours and experiences designed to help riders develop confidence, sharpen technique and get more from the motorcycles they already own.
Our approach is simple: teach riders to understand traction, braking, body position, terrain and motorcycle control so they can ride smarter - not simply muscle the motorcycle.
Our Mission
Safety comes first. Our goal is to create an environment where riders can learn, practice and challenge themselves while enjoying the process. We work with riders at different skill levels and use real-world terrain to build skills that translate directly to trail, desert and adventure riding.
Founder & Lead Instructor
Josear Carrasco
Jose Armando "Josear" Carrasco founded Off-Road Smart in 2005 and has spent more than 20 years coaching riders. He is the 2017 SCORE World Desert Ironman Champion and has worked with multiple motorcycle brands as an athlete, ambassador, instructor and content creator.
His coaching philosophy combines competition experience with practical instruction: break complex riding into repeatable fundamentals, then adapt those fundamentals to each rider, motorcycle and terrain.
Training That Works in the Real World
Off-Road Smart offers private and group training from foundational to advanced levels. Our programs have been delivered across Mexico and the United States, and we have collaborated with riders, dealers and brands including BMW Motorrad, KTM, Husqvarna, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Harley-Davidson, Ducati, Triumph, Suzuki, CFMOTO, Moto Morini and Beta Motor.
Beyond the Class: Baja Experiences
Training is only part of the story. Off-Road Smart also creates multi-day motorcycle experiences in Mexico and the United States, with Baja California as our signature destination. Our Baja tours are operated in collaboration with Too Much Fun Promotions, a company with more than 40 years of experience creating motorcycle adventures in Baja.
From Enduro and Off-Road to Dual-Sport and Adventure, the goal is the same: give riders the skills, support and confidence to go farther.
